360 Sustainability

8 million tons of waste ends up in our oceans every single year. The fast fashion industry is a huge culprit for unnecessary one-time-wear waste. Ode & Rae refuses to be a part of this problem so we have taken action and teamed up with the Aquafil group who produce sustainable techno fabric made with ECONYL®.

All pieces are made from 100% regenerated nylon yarn derived from pre and post-industrial waste  – simply put, this means less plastic making its way to our oceans and instead enables a more circular fashion economy.

Here at Ode & Rae, we are committed to ensuring all materials and processes (including packaging) are completely ethical, eco-friendly and recyclable.

The 4 Step Process:

  1. Rescue
The ECONYL® Regeneration System starts with rescuing waste, like fishing nets, fabric scraps, carpet flooring and industrial plastic from landfills and oceans all over the world. That waste is then sorted and cleaned to recover all of the nylon possible.
  1. Regenerate
Through a radical regeneration and purification process, the nylon waste is recycled right back to its original purity. That means ECONYL® regenerated nylon is exactly the same as virgin nylon.

  2. Remake
ECONYL® regenerated nylon is processed into carpet yarn and textile yarn for use in the fashion industry.

  3. Reimagine
Ode & Rae then utilise the ECONYL® fabric by turning into the luxurious swimwear pieces you all love.

You can find out more about our fabric partner ECONYL® and the entire process by visiting the ECONYL® website here.
